About HyperactiveMiss

Hello!
Ask away! If you'd like to know me better, check out my websites by clicking here and viewing my collective. I always try to give detailed and helpful advice. Please feel free to ask me for advice and DO give me feedback! Reading good comments and knowing that I helped someone out literally puts a smile on my face.

Please be sure to look at the FAQ on my column. If you ask a question similar to one I've already answered, I will most likely reply with the same answer.

Grammar, Punctuation, etc
I think if Advicenators are going to take the time to answer other peoples' questions and give free and helpful advice, the least people could do is use correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc when they are asking for help. It's unbelievable how some people TyPe LiKe ThIs, or never use periods, or don't have the time to do a "seempl nd quik speel chek".
Pet Peeve
I think that's totally lame when someone rates you down just because they don't want to accept the truth. It's also annoying if they rate you down, just because they didn't like your answer. Advicenators isn't about hearing what you want to hear. It's about finding the truth. People should be thankful that someone gave their time and effort. They should be thankful their question was even answered at all.
Rating & Feedback
Let me just remind you what each number means when you rate someone. These are OFFICIAL.

1- Pretty Bad Advice 2- Not Harmful, But Not Useful Either 3- Decent Enough Advice 4- Good Advice 5- Really Awesome Advice

I think everyone should give feedback, not just a rating. And feedback should include WHY you gave that person that specific rating. If everyone did that, everyone would probably rate more accurately. Also, the advice giver took the time to answer the question. The least the question asker could do is to give feedback! But unfortunately I guess it's too hard and mind boggling for everyone to do.

  • me and my mate both like to do the same things like music, netball (sports) but whenever i do these things with her she always beats me at them and i think tht she thinks tht its a competition and it gets on my nerves but i dont no weva to dump her as a friend cuz it upsets me weneva i find out she has beaten me at sumthing i feel like cryin (sumtimes i do) so should i dump her as a friend?

First off, I must state the obvious. Look dear, you CAN'T dump a friend JUST because she beats you at "everything".

You guys have a lot in common as you said. You like to do the same things. And you called her your friend, or your mate. By the sounds of that I think you guys have a lot to go for. The only thing you need to do now is to work out your little problem with her.

If you look at the second sentence I have written up there, you will see I put "everything" in quotation marks. Why? Because how do you know she beats you at EVERYTHING? Have you tried new things she might not be good at? You could also practice more so you could be even better than her in something.

You said you THINK she thinks everything is a competition. You didn't say you KNEW. This is the major problem here of the situation. You need to talk to her.

Since she beats you at some things, you know what you could do? You could ask her to teach you how to be better. Having someone better than you is not a bad thing. They teach you how to make yourself better. They can help you. This is where that whole "talking" thing comes in again. You have to ask and TALK to her or nothing will ever change.

As for the competition thing...that's not a bad thing either. Competition makes you work harder. It keeps you on your toes. If you had no competition I doubt you would work as hard as when you had competition. Even rivals in a field like sports can be friends. Even if you're playing against each other doesn't mean you have to hate the person on the other team.

I understand you want to cry when she beats you. It feels bad to lose to someone else at something you love doing. The thing is, there will always be someone better than us. Kind of sad to realize, but there's a good side to it as well. That means there's always someone WORSE than you as well! So you see? Everyone has their own level. Although you're not the best, you can always be better than someone else and that proves you are at least trying and your hard work paid off.

Don't dump a friend for a stupid reason. Work it out first and if your friend refuses to work it out with you, THEN you can dump that friend. And even if you dump that friend, never forget that they help you to improve by making you work harder.
